The Nightmare Before the Dream
Born in the small village of Wedgemore, Dorian was part of a well respected family that helped establish the villiage decades earlier. Dorian’s Grandfather was one of the original elders. He with other families fortified Wedgemore fighting many battles against Orcs hordes. Through the decades Wedgemore grew into a strong community trading goods and services with surrounding neighbors. These friendships brought well needed structure to this small fledgling community. Friendship with several Elven neighbors introduced religion of The Creator to Wedgemorians. Dorian was a slightly scrawny, sickly child. His mother, Victoria tended to coddle him as a baby. His father Edmond was an alderman on the village council. As soon as Dorian was old enough, his father started to teach him the history of their community. He taught him how important it was to help one an other for The Creator. Even though Dorian’s family was affluent for a citizen of Wedgemore his father made him help around the community. He would help in neighbors farms, repair buildings and with The Creator services. This helped reinforce the values Dorian’s father wanted to instill in him. It also helped Dorian shake off his scrawny youth and become a very strong, sturdy young man. Dorian went to bed every evening thanking The Creator for all his blessing. Every night he would ask for the strength to continue to help he fellow villagers then peacefully fall asleep. One of these nights that peace was broken. A huge Orc horde attacked Wedgemore. The strongest fought back but there was little they could do. This was the largest wave of Orcs Wedgemore had ever experienced. The villagers fought many to the death. The Orcs were finally driven back but it was a solemn victory. Much of Wedgemore lay in ruin. Whole families died fighting including Dorian’s mother and father. Throughout the following years, Dorian helped rebuild the community. He took his fathers spot on the counsel and with the help of The Creator repaired the wounds of the society he grew up in. Wedgemore became even stronger than before. The populace grew and the flourished. One summers night, Dorian had a vision. The Creator was telling him to continue this mission. He did not understand much of his vision. What he did understand was it was time to leave the place he had known all his life. With the help of The Creator he would protect others from the pain and destruction his home has endured.
